About Saman
The Saman is a textured mule with organic tree root forms spreading along the upper with a Tumi-shaped tongue, drawing directly from pre-Columbian artifacts and motifs. Named after the Saman tree — a beloved gathering space in Latin America, this elevated mule is built for long-wear and traditional gatherings. Like the Saman tree’s wide-reaching roots that spread along the surface, this mule brings our Latino culture to the surface, showing where we've been and where we are going. About the Creator
Moya & Rujana is a design duo with a shared vision of telling Latino stories through their work. Andrew Moya from New Jersey and Juan Rujana from Venezuela draw on their background across everything they make. Their first project together, the Saman, won the 2026 Vizcom x Zellerfeld design competition.
